Hello Everyone,

 

Potluck and B-B-Q Lunch Update!

 

Instead of the b-b-q and potluck lunch that was planned after the inter-squad meet next Saturday, 25th, we will be supplying pizza, cookies and drinks.

It necessary to change the original plan because the dedication of the new football field is scheduled for the same day at 11am. This way, if you wish to attend the dedication, you can grab a quick bite and head over to the stadium after the swimming,

If you have any questions or would like to help with the set-up, let me know.

Wednesday, August  31, 2011 from 4pm to 9pm will be our first dinning out fundraiser of the season and it will be sponsored by The Golden Chicken (next to Fuddrukers in Burbank), mention JBHS Aquatics when dining and The Golden Chicken will donate 20% of sales to the JBHS Booster Club.  We hope to see everyone there.

Aquatics Booster Club General Meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 17th, 2011 at 7:00pm at the Multi Purpose Room (MPR), which is located to the left of the big gym.  Your attendance is important in order for the program to work.  This meeting is mandatory for all Water Polo and Swim parents.  We hope to see everyone there.

Good morning parents and athletes,

Try outs for boys water polo is tomorrow and Friday, August 4th and 5th, from 8-11 AM and 8-10 AM, respectively. I ask that athletes be at the pool no later than 7:30 AM each day to warm up, and to turn in the paper attached on Thursday. The absolute latest to turn in the paper tomorrow is 7:59 AM, because the try outs will start AT 8 AM.

For those returning athletes who have a physical on file in the office, I recommend that if you have not renewed it yet, to do so ASAP so you do not become ineligible to play during the season. Some of you are good for another few weeks, but that should be done before the beginning of school just to be on the safe side. That is a very high priority document that needs to be turned in please!

For the FRESHMEN, I understand that your orientation is on the same days as the tryouts, but you still NEED to turn in the paperwork attached by 7:59 AM tomorrow, even if you are not able to participate tomrrow. There is no need to worry about splitting your time between orientation and tryouts, do what you need to do for your academics first.

The practice schedule for the following two weeks, or this program's "hell week", and yes you read that right, TWO weeks, goes as follows:

Monday-Friday (Aug. 8-12): 8-11 AM, 1:30-4:30 PM
Saturday (Aug. 13): 9 AM-1 PM
Monday-Friday (Aug. 15-19): 6-7:30 AM, 2-5 PM
Saturday (Aug. 20): TBA

** If you miss a practice during hell week, another hell week practice WILL be added for the WHOLE TEAM. There is NO reason, other than family emergency, to miss a practice. All doctor appointments, etc., should be scheduled for before or after practices, NO EXCEPTIONS. This is the beginning of season and we need to have all athletes at every practice to maximize their water polo experience. Athletes should also show up ON TIME ready to go at the start of each practice. Punctuality is key; and every athlete should be accountable for their actions.

I know this is a bit scary for those who haven't been through this before, but I promise you all that this will be a great experience. Not everyone can go through our hell week, and if I am not mistaken, we are the only program on campus that has hell week for 2 weeks. At the end of it, all of you will feel accomplished and have greater commradery with your teammates, who are going through your experiences with you. Remember, you are not alone here; we are a TEAM! We all want a great season this year, and to do so, we need to put in the work to get there!

Get a good night of sleep tonight boys, and I'll see you all tomorrow at 7:30 AM!

Good day to all -
 
This an all points request from the Aquatics Boosters Board.
This weekend we are requesting volunteers to man the Snack Bar for the upcoming Water Polo tournament. We would like six to twelve volunteers to put in an hour or two (depending on our numbers) at the Snack Bar over the two day tournament. This entails sitting at the Snack Bar, filling orders, taking money and on occasion being a short order microwave/grill chef.
 
Due to short notice at the prior Saturday scrimmages, the Board members have run the Snack Bar all day. Our tans are tremendous but I don't recommend it for people who value their weekends ... pretty much everyone that I can think of!
 
This is the perfect opportunity for some of the freshman parents to come out, meet other parents, learn the routine, bring your freshman to see a tournament and learn more about the game of Water Polo. Please understand that we welcome swimming only parents as well as Water Pol parents to volunteer.
 
Please respond by viewing the schedule and giving us your preferred two or three hour slot. The more volunteers we have, the easier it will be for us to put you in at your preferred time.
 
We are excited to be hosting so many schools and we would love to make a good impression them. Your participation will go a long way towards that goal so that we can host many profitable and successful tournaments to come!

This day was originally scheduled to be pupil-free. That has changed and now we are back to a regular school day, so our schedule will go back to being regular, as well.  Girls Water Polo 2-5pm and Swim Team 4:45-7pm

The official date for Swim season this year will be Monday, February 14th 9am-1pm.  Dryland athletic clothes are needed in addition to regular swimwear. 
 
There will be an announcement for a parent meeting and booster club meeting coming this week, as well.  Please stay tuned and read the newsletter that will be sent out.  Thanks!

1) School physical
2) Sports packet
3) Team guidelines
4) Uniform order form
 
See any of the coaches on the pool deck if you are still confused about any of these items.

Beginning today and through October 12 (one whole month!), Frontier Wok Too has invited JBHS Aquatics and their friends and families to dine with them and receive 20% back in revenue!  This offer is good Mon-Thurs lunch or dinner, dine in or take out.  All you need to do is send the receipts to Coach Cohen at the pool and we will turn them all in at the end of the month.  FANTASTIC OPPORTUNITY!!!
